Kitchen Measurements Guide
Accurate measurements allow me to design your kitchen once — intentionally and correctly.
Because IKEA kitchens are modular, even a few inches can change cabinet options, appliance placement, and overall flow. The more precise your measurements, the smoother and faster your design process will be.
If you’re unsure about any measurement, that’s okay — simply note it. I’ll review everything before design begins and let you know if clarification is needed.
What You’ll Need
A tape measure (metric or imperial is fine — just be consistent)
A simple sketch of your kitchen (hand-drawn is perfect)
Appliance specifications (or photos of labels, if available)
You do not need professional drawings or perfectly styled photos.
Required Measurements
Please measure wall to wall, floor to ceiling, and opening to opening. Include all dimensions in your sketch.
1. Room Dimensions
Overall length and width of the kitchen
Ceiling height
Any soffits, bulkheads, or dropped ceilings
2. Doors & Openings
For each door or opening, include:
Width and height
Distance from the nearest wall
Direction the door swings
3. Windows
For each window, include:
Width and height
Distance from floor to bottom of window
Distance from adjacent walls
4. Plumbing
Sink location (centered measurement from wall)
Distance from wall to drain
Any visible plumbing constraints
5. Electrical
Location of outlets, switches, and hardwired fixtures
Distance from floor and nearest wall
Appliances (Very Important)
Please confirm whether you are keeping existing appliances or purchasing new ones.
For each appliance, provide:
Exact width (e.g. 24", 30", 36")
Model number (if known)
Built-in vs freestanding
Appliances that significantly impact layout include:
Refrigerator
Range / cooktop
Wall oven
Dishwasher
Microwave
If you don’t have specs yet, note that clearly — I’ll design accordingly and flag limitations.
Uploading Photos
Photos help me understand how you actually use your kitchen.
You do not need to clean or stage your space.
Please upload:
Wide shots of the full kitchen
Close-ups of problem areas
Photos of how the kitchen looks during everyday use
Real life is more helpful than perfection.
A Note on Accuracy
I design based on the measurements you provide.
If something is uncertain:
Flag it in your notes
Add a photo for context
I’ll review and follow up if needed
Your project timeline begins once accurate measurements are received.
After You Submit
Once your measurements and intake form are complete:
I’ll review everything carefully
Confirm readiness to begin
Then start your design
This approach allows me to deliver a thoughtful, functional IKEA kitchen plan with clarity and confidence.
